Authoritative organizations: China is expected to become the largest market for semiconductor manufacturing equipment

According to Japanese media reports on July 13, the International Organization for Semiconductor Equipment and Materials (SEMI) issued a forecast on July 9 that global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in 2019 will decrease by 18% from the same period last year to $52.7 billion (US$1, about RMB 6.9). Semiconductor manufacturers are curbing investment in equipment. The data released this time is down from the end of 2018 forecast ($59.6 billion).
Semiconductor demand for smartphones and data centers is sluggish, and the trend of reducing equipment investment among semiconductor manufacturers is expanding. As a result, the International Organization for Semiconductor Equipment and Materials lowered its expectations. Dave Anderson, president of SEMI North America at a press conference, stressed that the industry was still at a high level, but there was a sense of stagnation in the industry.
According to the latest forecast released by SEMI, all regions except Taiwan and the United States are expected to decline year-on-year. In particular, South Korea, where memory giants Samsung and SK Hynix are located, has seen a significant decline.
